Talk of the Town

The Essay, Talk of the Town, brought back some very real memories to my mind. I remember that exact day. I was in second grade and I remember my teacher getting pulled out of the classroom quickly and for some reason I can still picture her walking back into the room with one of the most distraught looks I have ever seen. Even though this happened nearly 10 years ago I still remember it like it was yesterday. My teacher proceeded by turning on the news channel on the television in the classroom. The second she saw the footage of smoke billowing out of a tower her jaw dropped.

I remember watching the television, along with the rest of the class, and not really knowing what had just happened.  Also, I found it very interesting that in the second half of the article Susan Sontag says that the terrorists that were on the planes involved in 9/11 were not cowards. I can see how someone can put themselves in the terrorists shoes and think that, but I just can't do that. I will always think of what happened on 9/11 as a cowardly act that will be forever engraved in the minds of American citizens.
