I found this particular essay, Skunk Dreams, to be very fascinating and surprisingly an enjoyable read. When I started reading this essay I immediately thought of how when I dream I seem to forget about my dream until I have a sort of "Deja-Vu" type moment where I feel as though I have already experienced a certain event. I didn't know that would be what happened in the essay I was reading.
I can really relate to what the author, Louise Erdrich, had to say about dreams and how you don't even know you've had a dream until you "relive" it. I also found it funny how Erdrich wanted to be a skunk if she could ever be an animal. In my personal opinion I would not be a skunk, rather a falcon or eagle so I could simply fly around, "destinationless" where ever I so choose. I really wish I dreamed more, or maybe I do dream and just don't remember them. I hope random peculiarities spark "unknown" dreams for the rest of my time on this planet.
I agree with you that a falcon or eagle would be a much better life than that of a skunk. The ability to fly across the world and see everything from above would be incredible. I too wish I dreamed more. Dreams are the only place where the rules and laws of reality do not apply. Here are minds are really free.
ReplyDeleteWhen I dream I also have that deja vu moment! or I'll be doing something and I'll think I've already done it, but really I just dreamt it. I wouldn't want to be a skunk either!
